🛒 Ingredients:
- 4 slices sourdough, ciabatta, or focaccia bread
- 1 large ripe tomato, sliced
- 4–6 slices fresh mozzarella
- Fresh basil leaves (a handful)
- 2 teaspoons olive oil or butter
- 1–2 teaspoons balsamic glaze (or balsamic vinegar reduction)
- Salt & freshly ground black pepper
🔥 Directions:
- Layer the sandwich:
On one slice of bread, layer tomato slices, mozzarella, and basil leaves.
Drizzle with balsamic glaze and season lightly with salt and pepper.
Top with another slice of bread. - Brush & grill:
Lightly brush the outsides of the sandwich with olive oil or butter.
Place in a panini press or hot skillet.
Grill for 3–5 minutes, pressing gently, until bread is golden and cheese is melted. - Serve:
Slice in half and serve warm with a side salad or soup.
🌿 Optional Add-Ins:
- A smear of pesto or sun-dried tomato spread
- Arugula for a peppery kick
- Roasted red peppers for sweetness
