🥪 Caprese Panini

Yields: 2 sandwiches
Time: 15 minutes

🛒 Ingredients:

  • 4 slices sourdough, ciabatta, or focaccia bread
  • 1 large ripe tomato, sliced
  • 4–6 slices fresh mozzarella
  • Fresh basil leaves (a handful)
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil or butter
  • 1–2 teaspoons balsamic glaze (or balsamic vinegar reduction)
  • Salt & freshly ground black pepper

🔥 Directions:

  1. Layer the sandwich:
    On one slice of bread, layer tomato slices, mozzarella, and basil leaves.
    Drizzle with balsamic glaze and season lightly with salt and pepper.
    Top with another slice of bread.
  2. Brush & grill:
    Lightly brush the outsides of the sandwich with olive oil or butter.
    Place in a panini press or hot skillet.
    Grill for 3–5 minutes, pressing gently, until bread is golden and cheese is melted.
  3. Serve:
    Slice in half and serve warm with a side salad or soup.

🌿 Optional Add-Ins:

  • A smear of pesto or sun-dried tomato spread
  • Arugula for a peppery kick
  • Roasted red peppers for sweetness
