Ingredients (serves 2):
- 4–5 fresh strawberries, hulled
- 4–6 Thai basil leaves (or regular basil)
- 3 oz gin
- 1 oz fresh lemon juice
- 1 oz simple syrup (or honey/agave, to taste)
- 1/2 cup soda water or sparkling water
- Ice cubes
- Strawberry slices and basil leaves for garnish
Instructions:
- Muddle:
In a shaker, muddle the strawberries and Thai basil with lemon juice and syrup until juicy and fragrant. - Shake:
Add gin and ice to the shaker. Shake well for 15 seconds. - Strain:
Strain into two ice-filled glasses (or fine-strain if you don’t want pulp). - Top with Fizz:
Add soda water to top off each glass. Stir gently. - Garnish:
Garnish with a fresh strawberry slice and a Thai basil leaf or sprig.
✨ Tips:
- Thai basil adds a slight anise (licorice) note — more complex than sweet basil.
- Want a mocktail? Skip the gin, double the strawberries, and use basil lemonade as a base!
