Ingredients (serves 2):

  • 4–5 fresh strawberries, hulled
  • 4–6 Thai basil leaves (or regular basil)
  • 3 oz gin
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1 oz simple syrup (or honey/agave, to taste)
  • 1/2 cup soda water or sparkling water
  • Ice cubes
  • Strawberry slices and basil leaves for garnish

Tips:

  • Thai basil adds a slight anise (licorice) note — more complex than sweet basil.
  • Want a mocktail? Skip the gin, double the strawberries, and use basil lemonade as a base!

Muddle:
In a shaker, muddle fresh strawberries with a few torn Thai basil leaves and a squeeze of lemon juice.

Shake:
Add gin, simple syrup, and ice. Shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds.

Strain & Serve:
Double strain into a chilled glass filled with ice.

Top:
Add a splash of sparkling water (or soda water) to finish with fizz.

Garnish:
Garnish with a basil sprig and a strawberry slice for a fresh, vibrant look.
